Idea Hotel -- what is it about

The 'Idea Hotel' is a home base for inspiration and creativity.

According to its inventor, '[at] the unique idea hotel, people from all over the world express their ideas and thoughts, meet people with other ideas and return home with new ideas. The idea hotel is a /// place /// where new ideas emerge, where creativity is fostered and people get challenged. The idea hotel is a home base for people who love to explore future oriented ideas, creativity and innovation. The idea hotel is a rich source for new ideas, a /// place /// for the use of methods and techniques, a combination of face to face and virtual community. The idea hotel changes constantly and the concept is continuously developed with the help of the guests.' (see http://ideenhotel.ch/e/idee.html).

On this blog we begin to develop the concept of an idea hotel further to bring it closer to realization.

  1. I talked to Stefan yesterday and asked him to specify what he understands as the core of the idea hotel. His answer was: The idea hotel should provide people with a constant irritation in idea development processes. It is aimed at disrupting cognitive patterns system membership leads us to apply(such as a soccer team - asked to develop a game the game would certainly have strong elements of soccer), by confronting system members with the ideas of other people from other systems (the soccer team with the ideas of a theologist, a sociologist and a child on the same topic). What he underlined was the necessity of perspective taking and finding a common analogy.

    Lounge, 11. July 2008, 7.50 pm

At the end of an unseasonably cold and rainy summer day, the evening sun breaks through the clouds for a short but intensive gig. Werner K., 58 years old, curator of a Swiss Museum of Art, heads the beautiful stairway downstairs to the lounge in order to relax after a challenging day. The informal talks with the other idea community members by the fireside have been proven to be a pleasant contrast to the engaged sessions in the Creadrom. The unstructured reflection that happens there is a very effective and easy form of networking.

    Record Studio, 19. March 2008, 3.15 pm

Antonella B., 39 years old, graphic designer from Palermo, just finished her first pod cast in the professional audio and video studio. After a cold drink at the bar with her friend Nicoletta T., she presents the result to the idea community. Later, she uploads the stories to the news portal www.myspeakingtube.com and assures thereby, that her brilliant ideas are not only professionally documented but also unlimited accessible. Because her ideas and stories from and about the idea hotel do not only fascinate her business partners from South Italy.

For earning the membership of the club «Fit for Ideas», Abdullah has to overcome the 1030 meter difference in altitude to the lake both in a creative manner as well as within a given time. If he succeeds, he will gain next to the club membership unlimited access to the futuristic game zone. An exceptional challenge for body and mind!

The Workspace provides her with the necessary infrastructure for staying connected to her working environment during the weeks of her absence. Mobile and flexible working, supplemented with the other various options at the Idea Hotel – for Anna P. and her team a light at the polar circle. But not only the hotel attracts her to come back to Switzerland…

    Tavolata | Bar, 27. August 2008, 9.15 pm

Outside one can see first films from the mellow green meadows, and at the same time the temperature goes down. Thorsten K. from Hamburg, a 29 years old thought leader and development guru of the international Typo3-Association, is lucky that he did not decide to have dinner at the terrace. At the exceptional long Tavolata, he and his team colleagues are waiting for the main course of the menu ‘Surprise’. The variety of starters and the tension create ideal conditions for enjoyable talks. This unique environment and the excellent food in combination with the well known hospitality earn the highest award possible – dinner culture 3.0!
